GMAC mortgage
Long story short.
We got a settlement from Ken's worker's comp accident.
We decided to pay off the mortgage.
We called, got a pay off amount and mailed a certified cashiers (bank) check to the address provided.
It was received on May 27 and signed for by someone at GMAC.
They have not credited the account
and they now tell us that we owe late payments for June.
They lost the check - a check for over 84 thousand dollars and THEY ARE BLAMING US FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!
And upon investigation on the internet we find that GMAC mortage does this frequently. Loses checks and then tries to forclose on the poor homeowner while they tell them "not to worry".
So beware. if you have a mortgage held by GMAC this could happen to you too.
We had to engage an attorney to protect our interests.
If you are in similiar situations please be careful.
