America takes bronze in fencing
That's usually not a headline, considering the number of gold medals we've done in swimming and gynmastics. But the significant thing is that a Black Muslim American woman won.
So if Muslims are so terrible how can this be?
How can we have such a thing happen if only lily white Christian Republican kids represent the USA? Isn't that how it's supposed to be? I mean that's how it's been, except for basketball which we all know is dominated by blacks, right?
What is happening? A black woman medals in swimming? A black woman is on the Water Polo team (like most ghetto schools support water polo, right?). Egad, what's wrong with this picture?
Well get used to it. It's call progress.

too hot
It's actually cooler in Miami than it is in the Northeast. According to the weather gurus we'd better get used to this, because it's only the beginning of what is yet to come.
Pretty soon people will be coming to Florida to cool off for the summer.
Maybe now our Republican congress will get their heads out of their butts and realize we have to do something and that "climate change" is a reality. But if we re-elect a bunch of Republicans it's a lost cause.
Why is it that "commerce" and the "economy" is more important to them than people and the ecology?

somehow
My name got included on a "support Donald Trump" Facebook post. So I was recently asked if I wanted to ask "Mr. Trump" anything. I did.
I asked him if he was contemplating suicide?
Now either I'll be dropped from the list (hopefully) or I'll be visited by the Secret Service for the "implied threat" to the Republican Candidate.

isn't it odd
Brazil is hosting the summer Olympics - but it's their winter.

Two interesting developments
So now there is to be an investigation as to when the latest Donald wife actually arrived in the USA. Wouldn't it be a riot if she were one of those who "overstayed" her visa?
Also, the ladies at the place where I exercise on Thursdays were, initially, for Mr. Trump because of some of the things he said. Now every one of them wants to vote for Hillary because as one of them so aptly put it, "Mr. Trump is coo-coo for Coco Puffs." How refreshing.

Congressional pay
I think all Congressmen/women/represenatives should only be paid for the time they work. They get their money whether they show up and do their job or not, which is unfair. We poor citizens have to work for what we get paid. If we don't show up, if we don't do our jobs, we get nothing. Right?
So why should it be any different for members of Congress?
I think they should have to "clock in" daily, not with some clerk doing it for them, but maybe with those retina scans so it has to be the actual congressman who "clocks in". Thee would be a daily rate at which they will be paid (because I realize they actually do work, or are supposed to be on call 24/7). If they fail to clock in - in WASHINGTON DC or their headquarters in their home district, they get no pay.
Doesn't that make more sense than paying for someone who doesn't bother to show up (Marco Rubio)?

politics and policies
I can't understand how people who I thought had reasoning power and intelligence can talk to me about seeing on the news (usually Fox) some misinformation about a candidate and then tell me how bad my choice is.
I also can't believe that people, who I believed to be intelligent, can be so focused on ONE aspect of campaign rhetoric that they fail to take in the entire package.
Some people only focus on the "abortion rights issue" and will only vote for a candidate that won't "kill babies". Yet those same people vote for the death penality or for increasing the number of good young people who will be sent to war. Excuse me - death is death - whether it's the death of a fetus, an elderly person or a criminal. Death still means someone dies. Why is it ok for some people to die, like men in war, and not others?
Some people are so afraid that they see conspiracy everywhere, even when none exists. Some one is "out to ruin" us. It changes with each election, it was the Soviet Union, then when it was disbanded - the Russians, the Communists, the Chinese. "they" will take away what we have - our democracy, or economy, our freedoms. Those who believe it live on fear and feed on the candidate who best supports their worst fears and feeds them more of it. Do they really believe "Only I can fix this?" I thought only God could fix everything.
Some people see themselves as only trying to " better themselves" and not discriminate against others. So to better themselves they have to prove that they are better than others. Economically they are better than (take your pick) welfare mothers, blacks, Muslims, Mexicans, any immigrant who comes to America without money and seeks a better place. They all think they can become superior - but how many people can there be in that 1% of the ultra rich? If everyone is superior it's no longer the elite 1% is it? It's average.
Voting on only one aspect of a candidate's platform is almost as bad as not voting at all. You have to consider what's good for the country as a whole, not just what's good for you personally. Why can't people understand that?
